Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream (Japanese: ソフィーのアトリエ2 ～不思議な夢の錬金術士～, Sofī no Atorie 2 ~Fushigi na Yume no Renkinjutsushi~) is the 23rd main entry in the Atelier series. It's the fourth entry in the Mysterious sub-series of games, and a direct sequel to Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book.
Atelier Sophie 2 is chronologically set between the events of Atelier Sophie and Atelier Firis, and follows Sophie Neuenmuller and Plachta after the events of the first game.
Plot [ ]
- "Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream continues the story of Sophie and Plachta's many adventures. After leaving Sophie's hometown of Kirchen Bell, the pair discovers a huge tree identical to one that Plachta had seen in a dream, and as they get closer, a mysterious vortex pulls them inside. Sophie awakens alone in a curious new world called Erde Wiege, and it's not long before she hears about an alchemist named Plachta that lives on the outskirts of town. Shockingly, when Sophie arrives at the atelier, she meets a young alchemy enthusiast named Plachta, and even though the alchemist shares the same name as her friend, she doesn't recognize Sophie. What other surprises await Sophie on this journey? As the adventure continues, Sophie meets aspiring alchemist, Ramizel Erlenmeyer, who willingly agrees to help her in her time of need."

Gameplay [ ]
The game features a turn-based combat system with 6 characters participating (3 in the front and 3 in the back). The system is described as a "multi-linked turn-based" system. Battles takes place on the field, without loading screens.
In certain maps, Sophie can transform the map layout by changing the weather. Turning the weather to rainy would cause certain areas to be flooded, while a snowy weather freezes water surfaces to allow Sophie to walk on top.

| | A girl whose goal as an alchemist is to make everyone happy. She travelled from her hometown of Kirchen Bell in order to become a licensed alchemist. |
| | A young girl who has been living in Erde Wiege since before Sophie arrived. A calm and intelligent alchemist, she happen to share the name of Sophie's partner Plachta, yet does not appear to know Sophie at all. |
| | The mediator between the people of Erde Wiege and the creator goddess Elvira. Strong and dependable, she decides to watch over the growth of fellow alchemists Sophie and Plachta. |
| | A travelling mechant who makes a living selling the various items she picked up along her travels. Her goal is to find "a treasure that only exists inside Erde Wiege". |
| | A man working as a bodyguard at Roytale. Olias is always confident and straightforward, and often depended upon by the townspeople. |
| | A dual wielding swordsman who also works as a bodyguard, wielding top-class swordsmanship skills as a former knight. Diebold is loyal and serious, but not very good at talking to people. |

| | The creator goddess of Erde Wiege. A mysterious being who does not appear in front of people other than Ramizel. Worshipped by the people of Erde Wiege. |
| | The storeowner of Pirka's Emporium in Roytale. Pirka comes from a tribe of people with the ability to duplicate items. While she is a hardworker, Pirka is often found dozing off in her store during the day. |
| | Owner of the restaurant Crystal Sparkle Pavilion in Roytale. Her talent for information gathering allows her to know whatever happens in Erde Wiege. Additionally, Katrina is also a great cook, yet she is mostly found lazing around in the restaurant. |
| | A hardworking and kindhearted teen who works at Crystal Sparkle Pavilion. Gnome mostly runs the restaurant in place of his lazy boss. He feels a great debt of gratitude towards Katrina and would like to repay her one day. |

Atelier Sophie 2 was announced on October 2nd, 2021 in the Tokyo Game Show 2021, as part of the Atelier 25th Anniversary celebration.
