Sunday'south episode of "The Walking Dead" marked the start of a new era without Rick Grimes, and there was a lot to exist excited nearly.

It's never made articulate on last week's episode of "TWD" or Sunday's episode, only showrunner Angela Kang confirmed to INSIDER it is a 6-yr time jump that nosotros see at the end of Rick's final episode.

"She's [Judith] near four, four-and-a-half when we first the season and then we leap to her beingness x years erstwhile, much like Carl was in the comic book and when he started on the show," Kang told INSIDER.

You can read more than on what Kang had to say nigh the time skip and some flashbacks nosotros'll eventually see on the show here.

Carol wakes upwardly to a phrase on the wall of the Kingdom.

It's not the outset time nosotros've seen one of Ezekiel'south positive messages of hope.
AMC

It says, "At times we crack just to let the light in." That'due south a phrase Male monarch Ezekiel came upwards with that's on the wall at the Kingdom.

He wrote a bunch of phrases similar that on walls at his community. When Carol first comes to The Kingdom on flavour 7, episode ii, Morgan wheels her by a wall with the phrase, "Hope is the North star, allow it guide y'all," on her way to encounter the king.

Michonne is wearing a new necklace with a band around information technology.

Is that Rick's ring? If and so, that raises some questions.
AMC

You may accept noticed Michonne has swapped her regular gilt chain with a larger silver one that has a ring effectually it. The gold letter "M" is notwithstanding there, too.

The obvious idea is that Michonne is wearing Rick'south band around her neck, and it merely might be his. It's tough to believe that Rick wasn't wearing his wedding ring — the one he ever wears when he departed on the plane with Anne.

INSIDER went back through high-res photos from season nine, episode five and it looks similar Rick was missing information technology. It looks like he may accept conveniently left it behind at Alexandria earlier heading out.

Aaron's prosthetic arm makes him wait even more similar comic-book Rick Grimes.

Did you get a good look at his arm?
AMC

Aaron lost part of his left arm on the second episode of the season and information technology immediately made usa think he'southward taking on role of the role of comic-book Rick Grimes. In the comics, Rick loses his right arm when the Governor cuts it off. It's then replaced past a less fancy prosthetic.

Did the older Henry look familiar to y'all? He should have!

If you thought that was expert casting for the older Henry in the fourth dimension jump, y'all weren't wrong.
AMC, Cistron Page/AMC

The new Henry is played by Matt Lintz. He's the older blood brother of Macsen Lintz, who played younger Henry, and Madison Lintz, who played Carol's daughter Sophia until season two.

The older Henry is seen practicing fighting with a stick soon after on the episode. That's something Morgan taught him and his older, deceased blood brother Benjamin. Information technology's almost a direct callback to when we saw Benjamin practicing concluding season.

King Ezekiel mentions Henry is going to piece of work with Earl the blacksmith at the Hilltop.

Earl lost his son on the flavour 9 premiere and is the blacksmith at The Hilltop. It looks like Henry is going to be taking over part of Carl's function in the comics to railroad train alongside him.
Jackson Lee Davis/AMC

If you're familiar with the comics, it's an older Carl Grimes who moves to the Hilltop to start learning how to be a blacksmith. It looks like that role is going to the older Henry now.

Earl was kickoff introduced on the flavour 9 premiere when he went later Maggie.

A petty daughter welcomes Aaron back to Alexandria by yelling out, "Daddy!"

Little Gracie is well and alive.
Gene Page/AMC

That's piffling Gracie, who should be around seven to eight years old after the 2 combined time jumps this season.

Gracie was a infant who Rick found at one of Negan's outposts on season eight. He gave the infant to Aaron to raise.

The group at Alexandria has brought back the council to assistance rule the community.

It'due south déjà vu.
AMC

Maggie was besides using a council to help run The Hilltop earlier on flavour ix. The group originally used i to govern over the prison house afterward the stop of flavour three, seen above.

The new grouping consists of Male parent Gabriel, Michonne, Siddiq, and Savior Laura.

Rick'southward three questions to ask survivors has received a major update.

Begetter Gabriel is asking the questions at present. Here'southward Rick when he first gets the questions asked to him in a haze at the prison.
AMC

Rick started request people iii questions to see whether or not he should add people to his group. He was inspired after a telephone call he had on season three during a hallucination.

The questions were:

How many walkers have yous killed?
How many people have you killed?
Why?

The new questions Magna and her coiffure hear are:

Who were y'all?
Who are you now?
What did you exercise to survive?

Why did the questions modify? Mayhap they needed to evolve considering it'due south been and so long that people won't recall how many of the dead and living they've killed. Maybe information technology has something to practice with a bad event that occurred in Alexandria over the by few years. It seems pretty articulate that some other grouping must take betrayed or harmed Alexandria and that's why Michonne is actress cautious of who they permit into the customs.

Afterward on the episode, Siddiq briefly discusses that things changed at the community at some point in fourth dimension. Nosotros're guessing it has something to exercise with that "10" carved into Richonne's back. Hopefully, we'll learn more near that soon.

When Negan speaks to Judith, he references her dead father, Shane.

Did y'all catch this small moment?
Cistron Folio/AMC

This was such a fast moment that it was easy to miss. While speaking about a math problem, Negan says, "Lemme enquire you something."

If you're a big Shane fan, your ears should have perked upward because that was a favorite go-to line for the graphic symbol. The amend function? Shane is Judith's father so information technology was kind of perfect seeing that line said to his daughter since it's definitely something he would accept said to her if he was alive.

If you're a large fan of the comics, you were probably excited to see the start of what should be more than moments betwixt Negan and Judith. Kang told INSIDER by having a 10-year-one-time version of Judith on the show they would be able to highlight some of the great comic moments shared betwixt Carl and Negan that they haven't shared on the show, yet.

Gabriel is seen tinkering with a radio that we may have seen before.

Did Gabriel go back to go this equipment?
AMC

Gabriel tells Rosita he hopes he can find other survivors using his radios. Doctor Carson and Father Gabriel came across a large amount of radio equipment on season eight, episode 11.

We're not positive if that'south the very same one he went back to get and go, just if information technology is, that's a pretty cool nod. In the comics, Eugene uses a radio to find new survivors at another community, the Commonwealth, which has already been teased this flavor.

You may have missed this subtle introduction, merely the Richonne baby is hither!

Rick Grimes lives on!
AMC

Tardily on the episode, it'south revealed Michonne has a son named R.J.

If you missed his proper name or weren't positive who'due south child this is, INSIDER can confirm that the little boy is Rick and Michonne'south child.

"Yes, information technology's R.J. for Rick Jr. That'south his proper noun," showrunner Angela Kang confirmed to INSIDER.

Y'all tin can read more on our conversation with Kang and why the show decided to add the Richonne infant to the serial here.

Judith has her father Rick's gun.

This thing looks bigger than her.
Gene Folio/AMC

Rick had his gun on his final episode of "The Walking Expressionless" when he blew upwards the bridge. Since we see Judith with it, it seems pretty condom to assume that the group went looking for Rick.

It's sadder thinking that they only found his gun later.

If the pose of the sheriff toy Judith had looked familiar, there'due south a reason.

It's supposed to resemble Rick exactly.
AMC

Co-ordinate to AMC's "Talking Expressionless," the pose for the toy sheriff Michonne finds was inspired by a season three poster for "The Walking Expressionless" featuring Andrew Lincoln seen to a higher place.
